Depression is not a new topic, but yet not seriously discussed among the public and kind of being overused by people who don’t really understand what it presents. I still remember when I was a senior in high school, a junior student from the class right beside my classroom committed suicide outside the campus. Nobody understood why he made this decision. He was the top student in his grade; he had already entered the summer camp hosted by Tsinghua University; he was one of the most likely students in his grade to win the Olympic medal of mathematics… All remains to be a mystery.
“Trust your feeling” is not as good as people think. You might be mislead and wrapped by what you feel.
Advice: go outside of yourself and know what’s really happening. Gather information and know how to use it. Too much self-absorption should be avoided and try to turn cognitive regidity into cognitive flexitivity
Mood influences the quality of decisions, what we remember and how we remember. If you’re depressed/prone to be depressed, your alcohol intake should be zero.
Avoid use the past to predict the future. Whatever your history is you’re more than your history. Instead, creat possibility and turn analysis into action.”The unexamined life isn’t worth living, neither is the over-examined one.” Timely and effective action is needed.
Overgeneralization. Only see the forest but not a tree.
Get specific.”A goal without steps is merely a wish.” Sequence a task inleaner terms.
